Description

This course explores the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Classes are conducted through following a harmony of the Gospels and will cover a verse-by-verse explanation. Emphasis will be placed on how the example and teachings of Jesus Christ can and should be applied in the student’s life.

  • A Harmony of the Gospels by Robert L. Thomas and Stanley N. Gundry

Topics

  • The historical setting of the Gospels.
  • Differences between the synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John.
  • The most common misunderstanding about the Messiah in first-century Judea.
  • The preexistence of Jesus Christ prior to His human birth.
  • The doctrines of Jesus Christ.
  • The training of the apostles.
  • Commonly misunderstood or misinterpreted scriptures.
  • Understanding of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Assignments

Tests will be given at the end of each week of instruction to assess student understanding of course material.

Educational Bio

David Myers holds a bachelor of arts degree in theology from Ambassador College and a master of arts degree in Christian studies from Grand Canyon University. He has taught the Bible as a church pastor for over 40 years in New York, Massachusetts, Texas and Ohio. He now serves as the operation manager for Ministerial Services for the Church of God, a Worldwide Association. He has taught Survey of the Gospels since 2014.
