Apartment Life

Foundation Institute offers affordable housing to students at an apartment complex located ten minutes from the classroom in McKinney, Texas. These apartments not only provide students an affordable place to stay, but are fully furnished with the major amenities needed during the nine-month FI experience.

The FI apartments offer students the opportunity to live in close proximity—which serves to develop strong relationships. The FI apartments give students numerous social opportunities, including:

  • Group meals
  • Game nights
  • Movie nights
  • Pool parties
  • Recreational activities in the park adjoining the apartments

Apartments are furnished with:

Furniture

Beds

Kitchen Utensils

(including plates, glasses, mugs and cooking utensils)

Students are expected to provide all disposable goods at the apartments.

I loved the student housing. If they didn't have the student housing set up for us, I might not have been able to come to FI. I have made life long friendships with some of my roommates. It makes a huge difference being able to live in the same complex and so close to almost all of the students; we are together almost all the time.

Service Opportunities

There are many opportunities for students to serve during their nine months at Foundation Institute. These opportunities include:

Headquarters office

There are various ways students can serve at the headquarters office of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association; from stuffing envelopes to helping in media production.

Watch Student Produced In Accord

The local congregation

FI students are encouraged to get involved and serve in the Dallas congregation of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association. Examples of ways students can serve in the congregation are:
Greeting crew
Snack preparation
Ushering
Choir/Special Music
Sabbath School

Visiting Shut-Ins

The Dallas congregation has many elderly shut-ins who enjoy visits from FI students.

Sponsoring a service project

Students can sponsor a service project through the Hilltop Outreach Program.

These are just a few examples. Some of the most meaningful service projects occur when students see a service opportunity and work together to fill it!
