Description

The Church of God has a list of 20 Fundamental Beliefs. These beliefs are taught over two semesters. Each class thoroughly explains each belief using the Scriptures. Emphasis is placed on how each belief differs from the beliefs of mainstream Christianity. 

Required Texts

The Holy Bible (New King James Version)

Assignments

Each class will include extensive handouts on each doctrine. Students will be required to complete a review sheet on every doctrine before class. Students will take a comprehensive final exam at the end of the second semester.

This class will cover the 20 Fundamental Beliefs of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association. 

First Semester:

  • Introduction to Doctrine
  • The Godhead
  • The Angelic Realm and Satan
  • Humanity
  • The Purpose of Human Life
  • The Word of God
  • Sin and God’s Law
  • The Sacrifice of Jesus Christ
  • Three Days and Three Nights
  • Repentance
  • Water Baptism
  • The Seventh-Day Sabbath

Second Semester:

  • The Passover
  • The Festivals of God
  • Biblical Food Laws
  • Tithing
  • Military Service and War
  • The Church of God
  • Promises to Abraham
  • The Return of Jesus Christ to Earth
  • The Resurrections

Educational Bio

Jim Franks holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Ambassador College (with a double minor in public speaking and business administration). He has taught the Bible as a pastor for 35 years and served in various administration positions for almost 14 years. He currently serves as president of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association. He has taught the Fundamental Beliefs for over 20 years, beginning in 2000.
